Sport Hooks by Heavy Medalz

If you've got a few medals from races that need a home, checkout Sport Hooks from Heavy Medalz. Of all the races I've done over the last three years since I got off the couch, I think the only medal I have is from the Amica Boulder Spring Triathlon. Perhaps I'll have another medal to add after the race on 6/20/2010?

Dilbert's observations about runner's high

Most have had or at least heard of a runner's high, which I understand is the pleasant state that a runner might experience after running a certain distance. Personally I think euphoria is a bit overstated, but maybe I haven't run far enough? Anyway, the point of this post is an observation from Dilbert (Scott Adams) about the type of person that is inclined to run, bike, swim or otherwise exercise the biceps femoris. Read the full article about biceps femoris.

Scott concludes his analysis with this thought:
"I wonder if the world would be a nicer place if everyone exercised their biceps femoris muscles and experienced its euphoria. A sentence you never hear on the news is "He was a marathon runner and a serial killer.""

I had never made the connection, but I haven't heard about any triathlete serial killers either.

Is there is a connection between exercise and making the world a better place? I tend to think it is and reflects one of my first observations about the triathlete community. Everyone is over the top nice and generally willing to help anyone with anything. What do you think? Leave a comment.

I wish I had made this connection 20 years ago!

Flashback - 1989 Triathlon Worldchampionships: Scott vs. Allen

Happy New Year to everyone! With the holidays complete, it's time to start thinking about the upcoming season. Like many of you, I'm working on my race schedule for the coming year. When I have that figured out, I'll let you know.

I recently read an article in the "new" Inside Triathlon format about the 1989 duel between Dave Scott and Mark Allen. Great article and great video series complete with Rick and Dick Hoyt, one of the most inspiring and selfless stories I've ever heard.
